The Canal is not actually a canal as such but a slow flowing section of river, as boys we always called it the canal, and so, the canal it became. Many hours, probably even days have been spent exploring its waters and banksides for wildlife that had long before our arrival sensed our presence. An occasional glimpse on a more careful visit would enlighten our knowledge of local fur,fin and feather.
